Overview

Samir holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Banking from Tunisia University. Samir has more than 15 years of diverse experience in Tunisia and Qatar, he is involved in providing corporate tax, withholding tax (‘WHT’) and tax advisory services to domestic and multinational companies. Before joining Baker Tilly, Samir was the Group Tax Manager of Al Abdulghani Motors (Toyota and Lexus Qatar) where he was responsible for ensuring tax compliance for the Group by filing its tax obligations, prepare the applicable tax policies (withholding tax, contracts reporting, Transfer Pricing etc.).

Relevant Experience
  • Samir was a Tax Expert in Qatar General Tax Authority “GTA” where he was advising taxpayers regarding their tax obligations. He was also in charge of drafting and preparing circulars, notifications, and official correspondences to taxpayers and tax agents and has participated in the design and development of the new tax administration portal “DHAREEBA”.
  • Samir was also a Tax Manager in KPMG Qatar for more than 6 years where he has extensive experience of handling big portfolio of clients and team. His areas of expertise ranges from tax compliance, tax due diligence, tax advisory, tax dispute (objections and appeal committee) tax refund, advanced tax rulings and tax queries.
  • Samir’s other expertise areas includes but not limited to providing tax advisory services related to establishment of new entities in Qatar, analyzing the tax implications on the different forms of the legal entities also considering Double Taxation Agreements and advising clients on the most suitable business model for their operation in Qatar.
  • As Tax Associate Partner, Samir will ensure that Baker Tilly clients will receive the required tax services within the time limit, and he will maintain satisfaction for clients in the tax services during all engagement process and up to the delivery of services.
  • Samir will manage all the tax engagements and ensure its completion as well as meeting all tax compliance and deadlines.
